4D Component Features
TENG
is a family of 4D Components that enhance your 4D reporting capabilities by
using tagged templates for rich soft-copy reporting. Fast, simple-to-use and
flexible, it allows you to deliver to your customers soft-copy formatted reporting
via external programs such as Microsoft Word.

TENG
allows you to provide enhanced reporting options in your existing databases
with minimal effort. Any text based file format can be used with TENG to
provide dramatic improvements in reporting flexibility, complexity and speed.

reports: TENG is only limited by your imagination and your reporting requirements.
Multi-frame, multi-column, multi-page flowing data can be delivered. Varying
fonts, colours, alignment and other features are supported. Print with mirrored
gutters for double-sided printing for publication. Headers and footers,
X of Y page numbering. All the features of MS Word are now available to
you at low cost.

Soft
copy or hard copy output allows reports to be electronically distributed
by the web or e-mail. Print immediately to printer with DDE code (included,
Windows only)

Flexible:
Use TENG with RTF, HTML and other high end publishing tools to generate
professional reports. Use the same report to generate reports in different
languages. Perform HTML e-mail mail merges using TENG DB and embedded database
commands and tags.

Customer
driven. TENG allows you to provide your customers with the ability to make
their own report formats using MS Word or other tools. In fact, TENG can
be used to quickly implement existing customer forms by just taking their
legacy forms and converting them into TENG report templates. Literally minutes
of work to deploy a new report.

Simple
to set up: Only 2 methods are required to generate a basic TENG report.
One to identify the template file and one to replace template tags with
data in your report. Complex reports that would be impossible in native
4D can be implemented in minutes with TENG.

reporting from 4D Server with distribution via e-mail or third-party web server.
Because TENG does not use a printer, it can be used directly on 4D Server
as a automated printing server. Great for web or e-mail deployment of dynamically
generated PDF's.
- TENG Pro includes
code to generate columnar lists in your TENG documents. Quickly generate multi-page
lists in less than 10 lines of code.

The
TENG PICTURE module enables you to embed 4D pictures in your RTF documents.
This code library supports pictures in single tag mode or in list mode using
TENG Pro. (Requires QuickTime 4 or above.)

The TENG DB module enables you to
embed tags in your RTF templates that will execute 4D code or refer to 4D
fields and variables directly. TENG_DB brings you total flexibility in user-composed
soft-copy reporting.

For Windows users, TENG PDF brings
automatic RTF to PDF conversion to your TENG reports. TENG PDF offers commands
to set security, printabliity, editablity, page numbering and others. TENG
PDF even supports the conversion of any text document into a PDF file formatted
with the original text in multiple columns, varying fonts, etc. as per your
specification. After-market RTF to HTML converters are also available to
complete the reporting suite.

and generate professional quality results.
